RANDOM RAMBLINGS and MUSINGS
This is a new section and is simply the random thoughts of the iJump staff and volunteers as they travel throughout the sport. Some of it will be funny, some it will be thought provocative and some of it may just make you DARN MAD. You are always welcome to respond and we will print it...UNLESS IT IS OFFENSIVE! email firstname.lastname@example.org or text 714-797-1404.
GROOMS - Give them a break!!
The main stay of the horse show industry is the grooms...they are sort of the unsung heroes, without them we grind to a slow agonizing stop! Some of the jobs are good ones and some of the jobs are not.
The inconsistent consideration to their sleep at night is most concerning... this in not about any one of the horse security choices, it is about choosing one at all!!! I work late at the shows a lot of the nights, leave late and am saddened by barns that expect the grooms to watch over the horses all night....they need their sleep and for the paltry $20-$30 a week an owner needs to pay the businesses who provide a night service...DO IT! These grooms need to rest after looooooong days taking care of the horses.
If you do not want that service then I suggest you sleep in the stalls at night and watch your own horse...for trainers who don't sign up I challenge them to sleep in the stalls and let their hard working grooms get a good nights sleep!!!!
Come on guys/step up!! AND THANK YOU TO THE OWNERS AND TRAINERS THAT DO SIGN UP...it is in YOUR best interest, its your horse(s)!
